Understand why your Facebook Ad Account you'd like to connect to isn't listed in Shoelace settings

This is some text inside of a div block.

You’re excited to get started with Shoelace and so are we, but your Facebook Ad Account isn’t being displayed when you try to connect to it in Shoelace settings. 😕

Don’t worry, we got this! 😃

In order for the right Facebook Ad Account to be displayed when you try to connect to it through the Shoelace settings, you must satisfy the following three conditions:

------------------

1. You must be an admin on your Facebook Business Manager account

Only the Admin of the Business Manager can successfully connect to Shoelace. If you are not sure about the permissions you have on the Business Manager, follow these steps below to find out:

  1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/people/
  2. Scroll down to find your name
  3. On the right pane, under your name find your "Role"

The only two permissions on a Business Manager are "Employee" or "Admin".

If your role is currently set to "Employee" on the Business Manager, you will need to contact the Admin and ask them to make you an Admin as well. Alternatively, you can ask them to log into Shoelace and establish the connection themselves.

2. You must be an admin on the Facebook Ad Account you want to connect to

Only the Admin of the Ad Account can successfully connect to Shoelace. If you are not sure about the permissions you have on the Ad Account, follow these steps below to find out:

  1. Go to https://business.facebook.com/settings/ad-accounts/
  2. Search for the ad account you are trying to connect
  3. On the right pane, under your "People" find your name

There are three permissions on an Ad Account: "Analyst", "Advertiser" or "Admin"

If your role is currently set to "Analyst" or "Advertiser" on the Ad Account, you will need to contact the Admin and ask them to make you an Admin as well. Alternatively, you can ask them to log into Shoelace and establish the connection themselves.

3. The Ad Account must also be claimed by your Facebook Business Manager account

Sometimes our merchants can't find the ad account they'd like to use in the list of eligible ad accounts because they haven't claimed their ad account yet. To claim an ad account, you can follow these steps -

Step. 1

You’ll need to have a Business Manager account. If you don’t have one, go to: business.facebook.com to create one.

Step.2

Go to Business Manager Settings to claim the ad account

Step 3.

Go to Advert Accounts (sometimes called: Ad Account)

Step 4.

Claim your Ad Account

You will then be prompted to enter the Ad Account ID here:

You can find your Ad Account ID in the URL params when you are on the ad account. The account id will be the numbers after ?act=XXXXXXXXXXX in the URL.

You should now have your ad account assigned to your business manager!

If you have never setup a Facebook Business Manager Account or Ad Account before then you will have to go ahead and create your Business Manager Account here followed by your ad account by following the steps outlined here under “Ad accounts”.
